The Pontiac Yacht Club was chartered in 1934 as a family club for sailboats exclusively. Lightning Class sailboats were chosen because of their strong class organization and suitability to Cass Lake. Our Lightning Fleet, No. 54, is the largest one in the world. We have over 60 registered Lightnings. Our racing program has over 70 races scheduled each season. We also have a very active program for Lasers and Sunfish. A range of instructional programs are offered to both adults and children at a very nominal cost. The atmosphere is friendly and informal.
